Italian Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey

  • 1 cup Hidden Foods Marinara pasta sauce

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 4 sandwich rolls (hamburger buns or your preferred type)

  • Optional: salt, pepper, garlic powder, or Italian seasoning to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the rolls:
    Slice the sandwich rolls in half and set aside. Optionally, lightly toast them in the oven or on a skillet for extra texture.

  2. Cook the meat:
    In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey until fully cooked. Use a spatula to break up the meat into small crumbles. Season with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder or Italian seasoning.

  3. Drain excess fat:
    Carefully drain any excess fat from the skillet.

  4. Add the sauce:
    Stir in the Hidden Foods Marinara pasta sauce until the meat is evenly coated. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.

  5. Assemble the sandwiches:
    Spoon the meat mixture generously onto the bottom half of each roll. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the meat. Top with the other half of the roll.

  6. Optional melt step:
    For extra melty cheese, place assembled sandwiches under a broiler or in a hot oven for 2–3 minutes until the mozzarella softens and begins to bubble.

  7. Serve:
    Serve warm, ideally with a side of salad, roasted vegetables, or chips.
