Ingredients
-
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
-
1 cup Hidden Foods Marinara pasta sauce
-
1 large onion, thinly sliced and caramelized
-
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
Optional: fresh basil, oregano, or cracked black pepper for garnish
-
Olive oil or butter for caramelizing onions
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven:
Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. -
Caramelize the onion:
Heat 1–2 teaspoons of olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15–20 minutes, until soft, golden, and caramelized. Set aside to cool slightly. -
Prepare the puff pastry:
On a lightly floured surface, unfold or roll out the thawed puff pastry to fit your baking sheet. Transfer it to the prepared sheet. Optional: lightly score a ½-inch border around the edges to create a defined crust. -
Assemble the tart:
Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the puff pastry, leaving the edges clear. Spoon the Hidden Foods Marinara sauce over the onions, spreading gently. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly on top. -
Bake:
Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden, puffed, and crisp, and the cheese is melted and lightly browned. -
Garnish and serve:
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Optionally, garnish with fresh basil, oregano, or a few cracks of black pepper. Slice into squares or rectangles and serve warm.
